A Quick and Simple Guide for Taking Measurements
The more precise your measurements are, the more accurate your estimate will be. If you make a mistake, do not worry. These are only instant estimates, and any errors will be corrected later during the official onsite measurement.
Step 1
Make a simple sketch of your countertop layout. Use this drawing to note your measurements.
Step 2
Measure the length of each countertop along the outer edge, where it meets the wall. Write down all measurements in inches.
You can ignore sinks, cooktops, or any appliance that fits into the countertop. The goal is to measure the full area before any holes are made. If you have a slide-in oven that does not touch the countertop, do not include that space in your measurements.

Measure the width of each countertop. Some layouts, such as L-shaped or U-shaped kitchens, may have more than one width to consider. Make sure to record all of them.
